June Update

A little over a week ago I got back from SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry) in Bellingham, Washington, and it was such a fruitful trip! Our staff successfully brought around 80 students to Washington for a week, which was quite a feat in itself. Thanks to those of you who prayed for safe travel and for good weather: God blessed us with both! Our students got to spend the week staying with host families while learning about how to lead small groups, how to reach out to students on campus, how to develop spiritual friendships, and much more.

This is the group of students from Collin that went to SICM

Students praying for each other and their campuses at SICM
This summer our staff will spend time praying and trying to put together our leader teams for the coming year. We are excited about the group of students that went to SICM to learn about ministry who will use their new skills and knowledge on the campuses here!

On a different note, and a bit more bittersweet, was the end of the school year for Collin FOCUS. We celebrated the year with a classy banquet where we sang worship songs, honored our student leaders, and reminisced about the things God has done in our community. The most difficult thing about doing ministry at a community college is that the students are usually around for about two years and then it's time to send them off to a university. I have built such close relationships with many of the students who are moving on and it will be sad to see them go! However, I'm so thankful that many of them have chosen to transfer to universities where FOCUS is working so that they will still be a part of our larger community.

My "Peer Team": the student leaders I mentored this year
2014-2015 Collin FOCUS Staff
God was certainly faithful this year to provide for us in terms of personal and collective spiritual growth in our community. This past school year was challenging, fun, busy, and memorable. I want to thank each of you for caring about me and about these students. Your prayers, kind words, gifts, and financial support have been overwhelming. Each year I am blown away by the blessings that I receive from God through YOU. Thank you for believing in the work that God is doing on campus and for choosing to partner with Him in it. Thank you also for being faithful stewards of God's gifts. Sometimes I still can't believe that this is my job! I'm so excited to continue in campus ministry and to see lives continually changed for the Lord!

Even though the school year is officially over we are still busy with Summer FOCUS. Beginning last week, every Thursday night all 8 of our campus ministries will be meeting together for the summer. If you are free and in the area, you should come check it out! We're meeting at LifePoint Church in Plano (at Hedgcoxe and Coit) at 7:30pm. More details to come about Summer FOCUS in my next post!

Much love! <3
